My thoughts and prayers go out to Bay’s many friends and family in this time of loss. I will always remember remember my surprise at watching the Hillsdale College Chargers volleyball team in Michigan and in comes Bay to the gym with some friends who were there to support a former player he had helped coach who was on the opposing team. What a supportive, fun-loving guy! May the Peace of the Lord be with all who will miss him dearly.

Jerry was a good guy, good friend, and a good teammate on the field. So glad my brother Larry and I stopped in to visit him a few years ago. I didn’t know Kensil had passed since that visit.
Sorry that Jerry has been called to leave us but fondly remember our fun times in high school. I share a bit of sadness as well as my respect to his remaining family members.
Fondest memory is when Jerry and my brother Dan were 15 and John Glass and I were 16. We drove my mothers car to the Finger Lakes region in upstate NY to see our girlfriends perform in the EHS band. That was quite a trip...

So sorry for your loss! My deepest sympathy n prayers to fiends and family.
To say Bayhopper, Bay, The Hopper etc was one of a kind would be an understatement! Even though we hadn’t talked or seen each other in years I would call Bayhopper a good friend of mine to this day! I will never forget our times together when he was our coach for Weston Farms independent league basketball team. I can still see him with a towel on his shoulder like Tark the Shark , calling out plays hollering at the ref etcc.. and having a great time doing it! You will be missed Bayhopper and I’m sorry I didn’t get to say good bye to you my friend!! Cheers to you!!

I am sad to hear that my old friend, Bayhopper has passed away. We had many great times together, from attending baseball games in Cleveland, to traveling to New York to surprise Barney at Yankee stadium, at the same time trying to pick up a couple of cuties by telling them we were friends of Mark "the Bird" Fidrych. RIP old friend

To the family of Jerry Hayes you have my deepest sympathy. I I knew Jerry, as a friend, after his graduation from high school. His energy spent following EHS sporting activities, players and former players was beyond comparison. Will miss seeing him during return trips to Marion County. Rest in piece, my friend.

My condolences. Bayhopper had a heart of gold. I remember him as the coach of a basketball team I played on in the 1980’s. Fun loving, knowledgeable on all sports, and loyal are a few words that describe Hopper. RIP Jerry.

In loving memory of Jerry Hayes,
I knew him as Bayhopper. And I knew how great his love for sports was. And an even greater love he had was for his “kids” he coached and mentored. I was one of those kids. He coached a basketball league I was in at Olentangy, he took a bunch of us to a LIVE and Buffet concert, he was one of our biggest fans on and off the court. He taught me a lot about hard work and love of the game. Even gave me my nickname DAWG. You’ll be missed Bayhopper. I hope you are watching all the sports you want! Hugs and love to you. my sympathies to your family.

My deepest sympathies to family and friends. Bay was one of a kind. He coached my daughter basketball at Olentangy. We had so much fun going to basketball and football games. I loved going to the Cozy Inn and visiting with his good friends. He had friends everywhere and knew everyone. He will be missed.
